Last night at our elders meeting, each of us shared how we began our journey with Christ. It turned out that several had never heard how each other had come to Christ.
I wonder how many boards of churches are in a similar situation. After several years of being together, of serving together, they still haven’t shared their most basic life story with each other.
As one of our elders noted later: it wasn’t hard. Emotional at moments – yes. Hard – no.
We then created a list of people we personally know who need Jesus Christ. They need to making similar journeys towards Jesus. It was important that we remember we have been where they are. It was important that we be able to identify people who need Christ that we personally know.
We prayed for them, but we also committed to do taking action to share the story of our faith journey with them.
This will be our OnePrayer. It begins with me as pastor, and with our elders as leaders of the church. The congregation will not go where we do not lead.
Your turn. What’s your story?
